Music for Words
Crazy Santas Occupy The World: the first fruits of a sporadic collaboration with London-based performance poet David Lee Morgan - listen here
Exploding Poetry: I composed the music and produced the audio elements of a multimedia installation on the theme of women and warfare at Sheffield's Bank Street Arts Centre during February 2010. Based on the work of Bank Street resident poet Noel Williams, the project aimed to take poetry 'off the page' and shed new light on the poetic experience - click here for more information.
Off the Shelf and round about Sheffield: Since 2004 I have produced and performed collaborative projects for the Off the Shelf festival and other local events with poets including Chris Jones, Matt Black and Shelley Roche-Jacques. At the 2011 festival I performed Goat Boy and Other Journeys, a multimedia collaboration with poets Linda Lee Welch and Fay Musselwhite and artist and film-maker Susannah Gent. I also composed original music and soundscapes for Words in Pixels, a week long installation of text and graphics produced by groups of young writers in South Yorkshire.
Flossie Paper Doll: a poetry sequence by Linda Lee Welch accompanied by my original music and ambient soundscape. Originally commissioned by off the shelf, we have also performed the sequence at festivals including Greenbelt (2009) and The Trip (2010) and the Sheffield Poetry Festival (2011). With Animat and visual artist Neelam, I have also collaborated on a multimedia performance of Linda Lee's short story The Woods which we premiered at the Big Chill festival and brought to Off the Shelf in 2010 (look out for 2012 festival dates to be announced soon).
Birds in Three Dimensions: an innovative multimedia collaboration between myself, writer Susan Sandercock and artist Louise Grant, Birds in Three Dimensions combines poetry, music and illustrations inspired by the UK's birdlife - click here for more details
